You have a few cards, a handful of questions and no idea whether that is enough to bring to a collector meetup. It is a perfectly reasonable starting point. Before attending a trading card event in Dubai, a little preparation can make the room feel less unfamiliar.

There is a local connection to build on: The Bootroom Collection’s official LinkedIn update reports a Topps Rip Night at its Atlantis store on 21 February. That is a past-event reference, not a date for an upcoming session.

For new announcements, check @thebootroomcollection on Instagram and confirm the details with the store before travelling.

Check the format before packing your cards

“Card event” can cover different activities. Ask whether the session involves opening products, trading, demonstrations or simply meeting other collectors. Do not assume every event offers every activity.

Confirm the date, time, store location, booking requirements and any entry or purchase conditions. If you are bringing children, ask about age guidance and supervision. Dubai Mall and Atlantis are different locations; make sure you have the right one.

The TBRC store page provides location and contact details. Use it to confirm event information, rather than relying on a shared image without a date.

Bring a small, organised selection

You do not need to carry your whole collection. Choose a manageable group of cards you are comfortable showing or trading, protected in suitable sleeves and holders.

Keep favourite cards you will not trade in a separate section. Bring a short wish list with the player, release and card number where possible. “This exact card from this set” is much easier for another collector to help with than “something rare.”

Bring questions too. Asking how someone organises a team collection is an easy way to start a conversation without needing to know every hobby term.

Take your time with a swap

Ask before handling someone else’s cards. Look at both sides and agree on exactly which items are included. If value matters to the exchange, compare the same card version and condition rather than a vaguely similar listing.

It is fine to pause, check a detail or decline. A friendly conversation does not create an obligation to trade, and a card you brought for display does not have to become available because someone asks.

If children are exchanging cards, help them understand the swap and make sure neither side feels pressured. Photographing agreed details can be useful for your own records, but ask permission before photographing other people or their collections.

Leave room to enjoy the event

Set any opening or shopping budget in advance. Spend some time looking, listening and meeting people before deciding what to buy. Afterwards, update your collection list while the details are fresh.

Browse TBRC’s trading cards to get familiar with the ranges, then check the store’s official channels for confirmed events. Come with a few questions and something you enjoy collecting. That is enough to start a conversation.
